Linking Conservation and Community Livelihoods!

CarbonSolve's partner organization, Soils for the Future Tanzania (SftFTZ) is launching a new Community Conservation Bank (COCOBA) initiative in the Longido and Monduli districts to strengthen conservation outcomes while improving community livelihoods. The COCOBA model links financial inclusion, savings mobilization, and conservation incentives which enable communities to invest in sustainable enterprises that protect land, biodiversity, and natural resources.

Misinformation in the news and the real story

Misinformation surrounding land use and conservation efforts in Africa is not new. In Rachel Nuewer’s article, Africa’s Conservation Conundrum, Maxi Pia Louis, director of the Namibian Association of Community Based Natural Resource Management Support Organizations states “People don’t respect science anymore, and they’re making decisions without really having evidence. People are just emotive, and that is my biggest concern.”
